Description:
   Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 4575 Auhay Drive, Santa Barbara, CA (Note: Driveway entrance is from Arroyo Rd.). Meetings begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Visitors are welcome; there is a guest admission fee of $5.00 at the door. CHECK OUR EVENTS CALENDAR FOR SCHEDULED GUEST SPEAKERS.
    Programs include, but are not limited to, guest speakers, current events, Block of the Month drawings, Show and Tell, wearable art fashion shows, quilter's library, silent auctions, and more. For those months featuring guest speakers, workshops conducted by the speaker may be available as space permits; contact the Guild directly for workshop details OR visit our website.
    Annual events include Challenge Quilts made by CQG members, community quilt projects to benefit one or more local charitable organizations, and an Opportunity Quilt made by Guild members to raise funds for Guild activities and to fund its charitable works and contributions for the community. In addition, annual "Challenge" quilts may be displayed at one or more local venues. Every other year the Guild presents their "Harvest of Colors" quilt show, an event showcasing traditional and art quilts, wearable art and boutique items by Guild members (OUR NEXT SHOW WILL BE in SEPT. 2012)
    The purpose of the Guild is to educate its members about the history and preservation of the art form of quilt-making and related topics; to learn new techniques, improve skills and to inform the community-at-large about our rich and colorful quilt-making heritage.

Join Coastal Quilters Guild at 7:00 pm for a evening with our special guest quilter, MARY LOU WEIDMAN - “Creative You” - Mary Lou will be explaining avenues of creativity, the personality of the creative person and how you can stretch and become more creative with your thoughts and your quilts. Prepare to be inspired and to go away thinking of things you want to do to be a new "creative YOU." Mary Lou will be conducting a WORKSHOP on 11/11/11 called "Flower Power” These blocks are pieced blocks done Hoochy style and made into great wall hangings and quilts. Then when they are done, you have the option of adding buttons for centers and eyes and other fun things in the garden. These quilts have a “WOW” factor and are loads of fun to do and to enjoy making. See what creativity, color and exploring design can do for a great quilt! The speaker also may conduct either a one-day or two-day workshop on the Friday/Saturday following the meeting.
