Description
Discover the hilariously touching musical upon which the Robin Williams/Nathan Lane film THE BIRDCAGE is based. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is the only musical in the history of Broadway to win Tony Awards for Best Musical and twice for Best Revival of a Musical plus eight additional Tonys, eight Drama Desk Awards and two Olivier Awards. From the producers of SPAMALOT, DAMN YANKEES and HAIRSPRAY comes this tuneful and touching tale of one family’s struggle to stay together . . . stay fabulous . . . and above all else stay true to themselves. With a rousing score by Jerry Herman and a heartwarmingly hilarious book by Harvey Fierstein, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES has become an indisputable musical comedy classic.

8/12/14 - Godspell playing at Simi Valley Culturial Arts Center-- 8/15
> VIEW
> HIDE
Conceived and originally directed by John Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, GODSPELL is one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time. This is the revised 2012 version, incorporating some of the changes and updated references used in the 2011-2012 Broadway Production. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, GODSPELL boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life.
Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, GODSPELL is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love. Godspell plays July 26 - August 31, Fri & Sat at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 Adults, $22 Seniors & Students and $18 Children and can be reserved by calling (805) 583-7900.

Presented by Actors' Repertory Theater of Simi. The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe!
Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, SWEENEY TODD nevertheless has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor: audiences find themselves laughing hysterically one moment and gasping in surprise the next. Sweeney Todd will play June 7 - July 13, Fri & Sat at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm.

It's alive! Mel Brooks' Broadway hit based on his hilarious 1974 movie comedy reunites him with the creative team that turned The Producers into a smash. This successful musical version of the story follows young Dr. Frankenstein (or as he prefers, "Fron-ken-shteen") as he attempts to complete his grandfather's work by bringing a corpse to life. He's aided, supposedly, by the hunchbacked, bulging-eyed Igor, his beautiful lab assistant, Inga, and an eccentric and frightening housekeeper, Frau Blucher. This Ventura County Premier production is bound to induce monstrous amounts of laughter with catchy tunes like "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz." YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN plays April 19 - May 25, Fri & Sat at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $24 Adults, $20 Seniors & Students and $18 Children and can be reserved by calling (805) 583-7900.
