Free Admission to Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
Posted: 9/20/16
On Saturday, September 24th The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden will open its doors, free of charge, to visitors with a MUSEUM DAY LIVE pass. This annual event allows visitors to choose from over 1400 museums and cultural institutions in a national celebration of culture and learning. Visitors must download a free pass at the Museum Day Live website, www.Smithsonian.com/museumday. The pass is good for free admission for two at participating venues for one day only. One pass is permitted per household, per email address.
“The Garden is pleased to be able to open our doors to the community for free and share the many new features in celebration of our 90th anniversary. Bring your family to check out the Children’s Maze; rest on the bench in the new Wooded Dell garden; and find inspiration for your own garden at the newly renovated Water Wise Home Garden,” encouraged Steve Windhager, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Garden. “Of course the new Pritzlaff Conservation Center is a must-see for those interested in the conservation of California native plants.”
“This is a very popular event, so come early in the morning, when the Garden opens at 9am, to beat the heat and the weekend crowds,” advises Barbara Backlund, Visitor Services Representative Manager. “Cold drinks and snacks are available in the Gift Shop and we always have native plants for sale in the nursery.’
With over 1,000 different taxa of California native plants on display, there is always something new to experience. To learn more about the Garden and native plants join a free tour given by an experienced docent at 11:00 am or 2:00 pm.
