California's Wild Edge: The Coast in Poetry, Prints and History
Wildling Museum, 1511-B Mission Drive, Solvang CA

The exhibition captures the beauty of the California coast from Mendocino, Point Reyes, and the San Francisco Bay down through Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, and Santa Monica. Woodcut artist Tom Killion’s prints combine exquisite color with dynamic composition to portray the coast’s ever-changing moods and diverse formations: storm tides crashing at Point Lobos, serene moonlit coves at Mendocino, fog encircling the Golden Gate Bridge. Deepening the experience are poetry and prose from Gary Snyder and other well-known California poets of the past and present. The exhibition is originated by the San Francisco Public Library and is based on a new Heyday book by the same title.   ($5.00

40th Annual Isla Vista Juggler's Festival
UCSB MAC + Isla Vista Theatre, 552 University Road, Santa Barbara CA

The Isla Vista Jugglers Festival has been going on since 1977. Rumor has it that it is the longest running jugglers festival held at a single location. The festival is held in memory of Patty Laney, a local activist and juggler who, tragically, became a victim of violence towards women. This is why all the profit made from the sale of T-shirts and public show tickets go to the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center. More information concerning the festival can be found at www.sbjuggle.org

Richard III
Marian Theatre, Allan Hancock College Campus, Santa Maria CA

Shakespeare’s stunning portrait of Machiavellian genius spins a spider-like folktale web, full of rollercoaster lurches and plunges, about the murderous quest for absolute power and the moral demise and military downfall of England’s notorious Richard III. At the end of the bloody Wars of the Roses between the rival Houses of Lancaster and York, the victorious Yorkists look forward to a period of peace under the newly-crowned Edward IV. But Edward's younger brother, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, has other ideas. Deformed and jealous, Shakespeare’s Richard is a villain who plans to get the throne for himself through seduction, betrayal, murder or any means necessary.

Permaculture & the Climate Crisis: Science, Politics, & Practice with Dr Rafter Sass Ferguson
Fe Bland Auditorium/BC Forum, West Campus, 800 block of Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109, santa barbara CA

COP21 proved conclusively that our institutions are not equipped to handle the enormous climate crisis that is facing humanity and our planet on their own. We need grassroots movements to drive needed transformation - to both demonstrate alternatives to the status quo and demand that governments, NGOs, and business get on board and work as allies, for the changes that are so desperately needed.
