The Sun: Star of our Solar System
At the November VCAS Meeting: Dr. Jerry Clifford, professor at CSUCI, will give an in depth talk about the Sun. It's the "Star" of our solar system giving the Earth warmth and light but it also produces flares that can knock out our electric grid and disable our satellites leaving our cell phones useless. Professor Clifford will examine the Sun as a dynamic sphere of plasma that constantly evolves. An animated PowerPoint will accompany his talk. The meeting is free and open to the public but a $2 donation is suggested. Recommended for all ages 6 and up.
