BOAS Network is a non-profit providing a free education, information and education forum for anthropology that has launched a new live science talk series, Anthropology Straight Up. Anthropology Straight Up is designed to give speakers a place to showcase, promote and enlighten viewers into the world of anthropology. Their goal is to provide a direct link to connect and enter the world of anthropology in an exciting and accessible way through public outreach, social media and videos featured on their website   BOAS Network was founded by local resident of Montecito, Dr. Kohanya Groff, who has a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology, from UC Riverside.   Our upcoming presentation will highlight how two different cultures celebrate age. The first presenter will be Julie Tumamait-Stenslie, Chumash elder and chair of the Barbareño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians, who will share her insights into Native American perspectives on honoring age.  Julie carries traditions, history and songs of the Chumash culture, based on her family's native roots and experiences in Ojai.  She consults museums and advocates for the protection of Native American archeological sites and serves on the State’s Native American Heritage Commission. The second presenter will be author, TEDx speaker and cancer survivor Beverlye Hyman Fead. who turned her highly popular Aging in High Heels blog into her third book. She is also an aging advocate for think tank Global Healthspan Policy Institute.
