10/7 - Save the Date! SB Blues Society presents Guitar Shorty -- Nov. 14 ... The Santa Barbara Blues Society, the oldest existing U.S. blues society, founded in March 1977, is proud to present the legendary Guitar Shorty. He is the former guitarist for Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. He is the winner of multiple blues awards. This is his first ever appearance for the SBBS.
Doors will open at 7:00 PM. There will be free BBQ snacks, an outdoor patio, and a large, spring-loaded dance floor.
Tickets will be on sale at the door for $30 general admission and $40 VIP (preferred seating and one free drink). MEMBERS MAY BRING UP TO THREE FRIENDS AT THE MEMBER DISCOUNT OF $5 OFF EACH TICKET! Come relax, enjoy the blues, and support your favorite local bands: Debra Farris Band, Fortune Blues Band, Ashford Gordon Band, Paradise Kings, Rent Party Blues Band. SOhO will have a drink specials and a delicious & reasonably priced lunch menu. The winner will represent the SBBS in Memphis, TN at the annual International Blues Challenge!

10/6 - Volunteers needed for Buellton Wine and Chili Festival -- 10/25 ... Some of the best local chefs will compete to take home cash prizes for the best Red Chili, Chile Verde and Homemade Salsa in the Santa Ynez Valley. As a guest you get to participate in the People’s Choice awards; you decide who has the best Red Chili, Best Chile Verde, best Salsa, best Booth Showmanship, and best red and white wines. Your ticket includes a souvenir wine glass and unlimited wine tastes, ten chili tasting tickets, an Oak BBQ lunch, entertainment and more. 10/4 - White-Sided Dolphins ... The wildlife moved north about 15 miles from where we had it yesterday and that was a good thing for a couple of reasons. First, it was close to home and we could spend more time with the animals, and second, the sea conditions were much nicer near shore. Deckhand “ojo del águila” Auggie spotted spouts about 20 minutes out of the Harbor. Here we found 5 out of the 6 humpback whales that we would watch for over 2 hours. Mixed in the humpbacks were 4 Minke whales and at least 20 Pacific white-sided dolphins. Several of the humpback whales came over and swam under the Condor Express in that cobalt clear water we’ve been having. One whale breached, a single random act, near the boat.

The William Sansum Diabetes Center is pleased to host its annual luncheon, Together We Triumph, once again at the Fess Parker Double Tree Hotel. The event is attended by regular supporters and those new to our organization and there is no charge to attend.
