7/29 - Save the Date! Groovin' in the Grove Classic Car & Vintage Travel Trailer Show -- 8/1 ... The Santa Barbara Elk’s Lodge No 613 will hold their annual “Groovin in the Grove Classic Car Show” on August 1, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at 150 North Kellogg Ave, Santa Barbara, CA. If you haven't already registered your vintage car - you still have time. Arrive at the show between 7:00 and 9:00 am for late registration.
Along with the classic cars, vintage travel trailers, dating back to the 1930’s, will also participate in the annual car show. The show will be open to the public at 10:00 am and admission is FREE.
Unity Shoppe of Santa Barbara will benefit from this year’s event. Anyone bringing a new toy or a jar of peanut butter for Unity Shoppe will receive a free raffle...

Celebrated conductor Kostis Protopapas, whose engaging podium presence, incisive musicality, and administrative acumen have garnered praise from critics and industry professionals nationwide, has been named artistic director of Opera Santa Barbara. With the appointment, which caps a seven-month national search, Mr. Protopapas becomes just the fourth artistic director in the company’s storied 21-year history.

7/27 - Santa Barbara Music Club 2015-16 Season begins September 12th ... The SANTA BARBARA MUSIC CLUB announces its 2015-2016 series of concerts of beautiful Classical music at Faulkner Gallery in the downtown Public Library and other venues. A valued cultural resource in the community since 1969, these twice-monthly Saturday afternoon concerts are held September through June, free to the public, and are enthusiastically received by audiences and music critics alike.

7/24 - Jack Johnson Honors the Santa Barbara Bowl with the All At Once Sustainability Award ... On Tuesday, musician and environmentalist, Jack Johnson presented the Santa Barbara Bowl with a custom Water Refill Station, in support of the Johnson’s All At Once Sustainability Award, which recognizes venues making a strong commitment to green practices and the environment.
Last December, the Santa Barbara Bowl with promoter Nederlander Concerts, received an inaugural All At Once Sustainability Award in the “Green Leader” category, for ongoing excellence in waste reduction and sustainability and for making every effort to meet Johnson’s Environmental Rider during his 2014 From Here To Now To You Tour. 7/23 - Single tickets on sale early for Trombone Shorty's high-octane event to kick off Arts & Lectures sea ... UCSB Arts & Lectures kicks off its 2015-2016 season with a high-octane performance by “New Orleans’ brightest new star in a generation” (NPR), Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Fri., Sep 18, 8:00 p.m. at The Granada Theatre, Santa Barbara. Single tickets will go on sale early, Fri, July 24, 10:00 a.m. All other single tickets will be on sale Aug 8, 10:00 a.m.
Tickets are $35 - $45 for general public and $10 for all students with a current student ID. (A Granada facility fee will be added to each ticket price.)

The Santa Barbara Blues Society, the oldest existing U.S. blues society, founded in March 1977, is proud to present Debbie Davies. A native of Los Angeles and daughter of professional musicians, Davies fell in love with the electric guitar after she heard Eric Clapton play with John Mayall's band. After a stint with rock bands in the Bay Area, she became lead guitarist in the band of Mayall's wife Maggie and then hit the really big time as guitarist in the band of the legendary Albert Collins. For the last 20 years Debbie has led her own band, and delivered multiple highly-praised albums. A wonderful evening in the beautiful outdoor Plaza del Sol at the Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort, this event brings together Old Spanish Days history with the excitement of the Fiesta to come.
