As is the case every September, we see the beginning of our new season, but we also look forward to a month's worth of classic film and other performances. 8/31 - Free Film Screening: “The Condor’s Shadow” -- Saturday 9/5 at the Zoo ... Set in the ruggedly beautiful Southern California habitat of the iconic California condor, this film explores the great hope and extreme lengths that biologists and zookeepers (including those from Santa Barbara Zoo), scientists, and a feisty condor, bring to the task of pulling the condor back from the brink of extinction. 8/31 - It's Cajun/Zydeco ... at the S.B. Blues Society on September 19th ... The Santa Barbara Blues Society, the oldest existing U.S. blues society, founded in March 1977, is proud to present award-winning band Tom Rigney and Flambeau. Clad in his trademark red boots, Rigney is a passionate, virtuoso fiddler who provides the singing and composes many of the band's songs. The expert quintet plays low-down blues, fiery two-steps, funky New Orleans grooves, and heartbreaking ballads that make them a consistent crowd pleaser.

Aubrey Logan is an award-winning artist with vocals that range from deep and electric, to delicate and vulnerable. She breaks traditional genre barriers by combining jazz vocals with R&B, neo-soul, pop and a touch of rock. She won the Audience’s Choice and Jury’s First Place Awards at the Montreux Jazz Festival Voice Competition in Switzerland, and has performed as a featured vocalist, horn player, and educator on stages across the United States and abroad.
