3/25 - Cetacean sightings were fantastic ... The Condor Express ran two trips today with very nice sea conditions and good weather. 10 gray whales, 100 long-beaked common dolphins, 25 Pacific white-sided dolphins and a lot of California sea lions were observed in total. Cetacean sightings were fantastic.
9am ... Right away our first 2 gray whales were spotted just off Leadbetter Beach. They gave good looks but were a little bit shy. Soon an additional 2 gray whales popped up just west of the first sighting. The second pair moved at a steady pace and showed their tail flukes often. 3/20 - A great time for whales near the coast ... Captain Eric and his world-famous crew encountered 10 gray whales and over 400 long-beaked common dolphins during their two excursions along the beautiful Santa Barbara coastline. This is a great time for whales near the coast.
The noon excursion began quickly (as did the late afternoon trip) with whale sightings right outside the harbor. There was a relatively shy gray whale northbound just south of the outer buoy, and almost immediately a second whale, a juvenile, popped up and was friendly. 3/19 - Seven gray whale sightings ... Our Irish captain named Dave ran an epic adventure on St. Paddy’s Day along the Santa Barbara Coast. By the time he steered the O’Condor Express home, the crew had wracked-up an impressive seven gray whale sightings on a day when the fog was problematic at times.
The first whale was a small one and popped up next to the boat as we were watching the California sea lions in the innermost buoy. There was patchy fog with about ½- mile visibility at the time. Three virtuoso organists will perform three different recitals on the 3-manual pipe organ at First United Methodist Church in Santa Barbara. This concert series is an annual tradition during Lent.
