... Antonio Sanchez, discusses the ancient and emerging field of California native foods and their cultivation. This workshop includes tastings of native sage pesto made with Salvia clevelandii (Cleveland sage, Lamiaceae) and Allium unifolium (single-leaf onion, Alliaceae), Mesquite cookies made with mesquite powder (Prosopis glandulosa) and Agave Syrup blended with local Hummingbird Sage leaves (Salvia spathacea). ... The 15th Annual Taste of the Vine & Auction was a great success!!! A crowd of about 350 enjoyed the finest wines and food. The afternoon was also filled with a DJ, dancing and a photo booth. Thank you for your support!

The Santa Barbara Elk’s Lodge No 613 will hold their annual “Groovin in the Grove Classic Car Show” to Benefit our Local Veterans on July 29th, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at 150 North Kellogg Ave, Santa Barbara, CA. Local Band "Ernie & The Emperors" will rock and roll with oldies music between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. CALM is Grateful
... I am still glowing from the wonderful Celebrity Authors Luncheon that CALM’s Auxiliary hosted last weekend. What a fabulous event. I was especially inspired to learn that the prestigious Claire Miles award was given to Jeannette Carpenter. Jeannette has served as past president of both CALM’s Board and the CALM Auxiliary.
Recently, Jeannette began a new endeavor to support CALM staff. Each month, Jeannette organizes a group of auxiliary members to bring a delicious and nutritious homemade meal for CALM’s Santa Barbara staff. I cannot tell you how much our staff appreciates this effort. Bringing us lunch is tr...

CALM ... Learning New Skills, Welcoming New Staff
... Back to School time at CALM means two things: orienting new interns and very busy therapy rooms. Each September, CALM welcomes PhD students from UCSB and masters students completing their training. At this time of year, we also offer a comprehensive orientation program for all staff who have been hired in the past year. This group includes me, so I have been delighted to attend and learn from my gifted colleagues.
One of the trainings that really impressed me was focused on TF-CBT or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior therapy, which was conducted by CALM’s licensed therapis...
Volunteer at the Santa Barbara French Festival! July 16 & 17
... It’s that time of year again and we are getting ready for the 2016 Santa Barbara French Festival July 16 & 17. I was wondering if you would be interested in helping us out again this year. We have lots of fun volunteer opportunities: Friday July 15 from 10:00-4:00 we need bodies to help us build our little French community. Tasks include setting up pop-up tents, cleaning tables and the stage, hanging signs, setting up chairs, distributing cans.
