1/22 - This Monday evening ... Lin Cook Memorial at SOhO ... Lin Cook, one of the Founders of the Santa Barbara Jazz Society, passed away in December at the age of 91. A longtime resident of Santa Barbara, Lin was a fixture on the local jazz scene from the 1980s until 2009. Besides being an excellent pianist and educator, Lin was an ardent supporter of jazz music in our city.
A Celebration of Lin’s Life will be held on January 25, 2016, at SOhO, starting at 7:30 pm, in conjunction with Jeff Elliott’s Jazz Jam. The public is invited to attend. 1/22 - Save the Date! S.B Jazz Society presents Scott Whitfield -- February 21 ... Scott Whitfield has assembled a stellar cast for his debut as a Jazz Society leader. They are Ginger Berglund, vocalist from the Modernaires, Roger Neuman on Tenor Sax, Jennifer Leitham on Bass, drummer Kendall Kay, and pianist Jeff Colella. Scott, one of LA’s busiest trombonists, arranger and composer was with the Pied Pipers for 10 years. This concert will feature the Johnny Mandel songbook, Scotts last CD.
