7/23 - Heads Up! Robert Cray ... Canyon Club ... July 31 ... Five-time Grammy Winner (and 15-time nominee) Robert Cray is widely recognized as one of the greatest guitarists of our time. The New Yorker recently called him, “one of the most reliable pleasures of soul and blues for over three decades now.” He has written or performed with everyone, from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker, and in 2011, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. His career spans more than forty years as a musician, and he is on top of his game. He notes with pride and some amusement, that he continues to see new, younger faces in his audiences. “There’s a younger generation now whose parents turned them on to our music,” he says.

Leno’s “everyman” style and personality have made him a late-night talk show leader for decades and have helped him earn millions of fans worldwide. He’s performed hundreds of comedy shows around the U.S. for more than 20 years and remains passionate about performing in front of live audiences.

7/22 - Wow! Oscar Hernández ... Friday Night Concert (Oxnard Salsa Festival) ... Oscar Hernández has long been considered one of the most gifted and prominent pianist/ arrangers on the contemporary Latin, Latin jazz and Salsa music scene. After two decades of session work, composing, arranging and producing, band leader Hernández was approached by producer Aaron Levinson in 2000 about the idea of assembling and recording a Latin jazz orchestra. The result was Un Gran Dia en el Barrio, the 2002 debut recording from Spanish Harlem Orchestra that scored a Grammy nomination for Best Salsa Album and a Latin Billboard Award for Salsa Album of the Year. Based on the success of their first CD, Hernández and Spanish Harlem Orchestra began touring and wowing audiences all over the world.

7/16 - Aaron Lewis -- Saturday at the Canyon Club ... Aaron Lewis first rose to prominence as the founding member of Staind, with whom he released seven studio albums. Aaron Lewis has since made his journey to the country scene. In 2011 he released his debut country EP, Town Line, and enjoyed success with the gold-selling single “Country Boy,” featuring legendary George Jones and Charlie Daniels. The seven-song EP reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release. Lewis finished the year with nominations from the Academy of Country Music for “Vocal Event of the Year,” as well as two CMT nominations for “Breakthrough Video of the Year” and “Collaborative Video of the Year,” proving him to be a real “Country Boy.” He has since released...
7/2 - Shanté Morgan-Durisseau of Moorpark joins the Ventura County Fairgrounds Board of Directors ... The 31st District Agricultural Association (Ventura County Fairgrounds and Event Center) is happy to announce the Governor’s appointment of our newest Director: Shanté Morgan-Durisseau of Moorpark.
Ms. Morgan-Durisseau is managing editor at the CSU Northridge Marketing and Communications Office. She has been an instructor at California Lutheran University, a lecturer at the California State University, Northridge Department of Journalism and a political affairs reporter at Copley News Service. "We are excited to have Shanté as a part of the 31st District Agricultural Association Board,” says Fairgrounds CEO Barbara Quaid.

6/24 - The Distinguished Speaker Series presents Ehud Barak -- October 20th ... Ehud Barak served as Israel's 10th Prime Minister from 1999 to 2001 where he led the country out of a prolonged recession and into an economic boom. A global statesman, Barak played a pivotal role in various Middle eastern peace efforts. He ended Israel's 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon in 2000 and his peace proposals at the 2000 Camp David negotiations with the Palestinians remain a blueprint for ending conflict. Barak served as Israel's Minister of Defense from 2007-2012 and previously as Minister of the Interior and of Foreign Affairs.

6/11 - The Distinguished Speaker Series will present John Cleese -- November 10 ... John Cleese is a versatile comedic actor, writer and film producer. With the lengendary Month Pyhton's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, and A Fish Called Wanda, he created a unique comedic style that has inspired countless writers and comedians. He has gone on to write, produce, direct and star in some of the greatest comedic hits, and recieved an Oscar nomination for best screenplay for A Fish Called Wanda.

5/15 - Robby Krieger (of The Doors) ... this Sunday at the Canyon Club ... The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger is a rock ‘n roll legend. His love for music started as a child, when he listened to his favorite record (Peter And The Wolf) until it broke. His musical tastes matured, and by the time he was a teenager he began seriously playing the guitar – Mexican Flamenco style. But his love for the blues and jazz eventually led him to rock ‘n roll, and subsequently to a place in history. Krieger wrote or co-wrote many of The Doors’ songs, including “Light My Fire,” “Love Me Two Times,” “Touch Me,” and ‘Love Her Madly”.
